Official Sites
Visit Amazonas
This is the official State tourism site. A good concept, with some
nice graphics and some useful information, it is let down by poor
execution and questionable English. As you would expect (quite
rightly), it is more of a brochure than an informational site. In
English
Brasil.gov.br. The official federal government site.
Embarrassingly slow, but with some interesting information on Brazil
in general. In English.
Port of
Manaus. Details of cruise-ship arrivals, river level data and
some historical information. Available in English - but it´s a
Google translation, so some of it is nonsensical rubbish.
Other Sites
Food Brasil -
Manaus. If you can live with the Portuguese, this is actually a
very nice site for searching for restaurants in Manaus. Portuguese
only.
Green Ark
Press. A fascinating site with photographer C. Cornell Evers´
evocative imagery of Manaus and the Amazon (amongst other places).
Hidden Pousadas
Brazil. An excellent, well-researched site for selecting smaller
and less-well-known hotels and B&Bs throughout Brazil. In English.
Sonia-portuguese.com. An excellent resource for those learning
Brazilian Portuguese.
Wunderground.
A good world weather site, with a page for Manaus.
