The
Visit Manaus guidebook and other publications were written by Clive
Maguire, an Irish accountant in a previous life, who has spent 7
years living and travelling in the Amazon, and currently lives in
Manaus.
The website was developed originally to support the publication of
the hard-copy version of the Guide, but in response to feedback from
happy customers(!) the site is under further development to provide
updates to the Guide, even more information about Manaus and the Amazon and a more
interactive experience, including a forum.
Contributions to both the Guide and the website have come from a
host of different sources, including businessmen in Manaus,
Amazon tour
guides, cruise site operators, authors, university students and of
course friends and family. But the most important contributions have
come from visitors to Manaus and the Amazon, and we try to
incorporate all the (constructive) suggestions we receive. Our aim
is to be the best source of information possible for English-language
visitors to the region, to enable you to plan your visit and get the
most out of your time in Manaus. It is a fascinating place, and of
course the surrounding rainforest is a key attraction for all
visitors.
Your feedback is the key to growing the site in a sensible fashion
and
keeping the information up to date, so whether you are at the
planning stage, are already in Manaus, or have recently visited the
region, please keep it coming.
Revenue from sales of the guide funds future editions of the book,
the visitmanaus website and the visitmanaus forum. Everyone who has
contributed or is contributing work to any of these things is a
volunteer, and we thank everyone who has made the whole project
possible.
We hope you enjoy (or have enjoyed) your visit to Manaus and the
Amazon, and that you will
come back again soon.
