The independent site for visitors to Manaus and the Amazon

Welcome to Visit Manaus.com
.

Manaus is perhaps best known as Brazil's Gateway to the Amazon. With only one reliable road link, it remains a relatively isolated city in  the middle of the rainforest around 1000km in any direction from the next nearest civilisation. It is also an interesting city in its own right, with some interesting colonial architecture and a vibrant culture. However the quantity and quality of available information on the city and the region remains limited, and over the years we have received a constant flow of requests from visitors for information on transport, accommodation, attractions, culture, language and many other things.  We developed our Visit Manaus guide to try to address this growing need and have developed (or rather, we are developing) this site for the many visitors travelling to Manaus who need independent information and contacts in order to make informed decisions about where to stay, what to do and how to get around the city and the wider Amazon.

We are in the process of developing new
pages for the site and are adding new information as we receive or find it. In the meantime, our flagship publication, the Visit Manaus guidebook, is available to buy in e-format (as a pdf file) or in hard copy (paperback guide printed in and distributed from the UK). We also have a shorter 24-hour guide (pdf) and several leisure maps of the Rio Negro (pdf). You will find further information on these on our publications page, and while we are developing the site, you may find some useful additional information by following the links on our Links page.

We have now developed a new forum for visitors to Manaus and the Amazon (click the forum tab above), which we hope will be a good foundation for a buzzing online community of people who have visited, are visiting or are planning to visit this fascinating area, and of course if you would like to contact us - whether to leave feedback on our Guide, or to ask us a question, please email us at info@visitmanaus.com, or complete our feedback form on the Contacts page. Our publications can all be ordered from our Orders page.
